Royal Palace of Madrid

The Royal Palace of Madrid, also known as a Royal Palace of Borbons or the Palacio de Oriente (Palace of Orient), is one of Madrid's top attractions. Palacio Real as Spanish call the palace is just impressive from insdide and outside. Interiors are rich and made in different manners.

The Royal Palace of Madrid has 250 years history. It is a towering structure containing 870 windows, 44 sets of stairs, 240 balconies and 110 doors. This palace is also known as a Royal Palace of Borbons or the Palacio de Oriente (Palace of Orient). This place is actually used by the King of Spain for state ceremonial activities.

The Royal residence occupies a square area of 135 meters. The appearance of the palace is inimitable both inside and outside. The Palacio de Oriente can boast its incomparable Sabatini gardens, bronze sculptures of the Rococo style, walls covered with red velvet lined with silver, fresco ceilings in many of the rooms. There are shown various gods of Olympus on the one end of the ceiling's fresco and various kingdoms of Spain and the world regions once under the Spain colonial control on another fresco section. The decor of the palace amazes everyone, most of decorations come from the royal Factory of the Granja. A Throne Room, Porcelain Room, China Room, the Alabarderos, Official Dinning Room, the Queen's Room, Armory don't cease to surprise deliver pleasure every visitor.

The Throne room of the Royal Palace offers to the visitor unsurpassed decor dating to Charles III. Here the guests can enjoy and estimate ceiling's luxurious fresco, walls covered in embroidered velvet and two bronze lions at the foot of the throne.

The Porcelain room is the smallest room in the Royal Palace. Charles III had the Royal Porcelain Factory create ceramics for this room. Every inch of the wall and ceiling space is adorned by ceramics.

The Dinning Room is able to hold lots of people and is used for dance, in addition. This room in 1885 was constructed from the three of the Palace rooms.

Palacio Real houses amazing collection of furniture, tapestries, glassware gold and silverware and splendid paintings by such artists as Velasquez, Goya and Caravaggio.
