El Real Jardin Botanico in Madrid was designed by the architect Francesco Sabatini and Juan de Villanueva later. It was founded in the 18th century by Fernando VI and moved by Carlos III to its present location.
In 2005 the garden celebrated its 250th anniversary. The garden stretches for the 20 acres territory, which includes 30,000 plants and flowers and 1,500 trees. The garden offers a wide variety of plants from five continents. All of them are labelled with their Spanish and Latin names. Here it is presented a wide variety of flora: medicinal plats, herbs, sweet-smelling plants and flowers, food-bearing plants, shrubs and different types of trees.
Those who are interested in flora and nature will satisfy their passion and love to plants by enjoying the saturated contents of the garden. Many hues and varieties of wild roses and the Classical romantic Garden with a duck pond will not leave indifferent nor one visitor.
Besides, the visitors can enjoy the beauty of the tropical, subtropical and desert plants which are presented in the greenhouse. El Real Jardin Botanico can be used as an excellent place for relax or for having lunch, in addition.
