Basilica de San Isidro in Madrid is a Jesuit Baroque church containing the relics of Madrid's patron saint, San Isidro (d.1130), and his wife, Santa María de la Cabeza. The church was built in the 17th century by Francisco Bautista. . Basilica de San Isidro was the interim cathedral of Madrid from 1885 until the completion of Almudena Cathedral in 1993.
The church has a range of side chapels, a huge dome and barrel vaulting. The decor of the facade of the Cathedral is diversified by built-in columns, portico and vaulted niche with sculptures by Juan Pascual de Mena. The Colegiata de San Isidro is used for important religious celebrations in the city's life today.
