Almudena Cathedral
Almudena Cathedral (Santa María la Real de La Almudena), located near the Royal Palace, is the main catholic cathedral in Madrid. This is quite a new church, the construction of which was started in 1883 and not completed until 1993. Almudena Cathedral was consecrated in person by Pope John Paul II the same year.
Almudena Cathedral in Madrid is a mixture of several architectural styles: neoclassical, gothic, and neo-romanesque. The church measures 104 m long and 76 m wide, with a central dome measuring 20 m in diameter.
